Bonus Local Tips

  • For a truly authentic Innsbruck experience, head to the nearby Stiftskeller, a local institution known for its hearty Tyrolean cuisine and lively atmosphere. The pub is a favorite among locals and tourists alike, and it’s a great place to sample some of Innsbruck’s most popular dishes, such as Kaiserschmarrn (a sweet pancake with raisins and nuts) and Speckknödel (dumplings made with bacon and breadcrumbs).

  • If you are visiting Innsbruck to for a ski holiday then consider visiting the Glungezer ski resort, rather than the more famous Patscherkofel. The Patscherkofel is more well known, having hosted the Olympic downhill events, and is closer to Innsbruck. But it can be very windy and crowded and may not be the best option if you aren’t a great skier. The Glungezer is located in Tulfes, a short drive from Innsbruck and Hall and is usually less crowded. Also, it can accommodate skiers of all levels (I know this from personal experience, as I am a terrible skier, and all my family are fantastic skiers). Another great option is the mighty Axamer Lizum resort.
