Region: Northern Italy

We love the northern part of Italy. Especially the area around Lake Garda. It is surrounded by picturesque villages, great restaurants, ample opportunities for shopping and diverse nature.

Lazise

Hotel Palazzo Della Scala

I have to admit it is on the pricey side however, we found it was worth every cent. The Hotel features a heated outdoor pool which is really difficult to find in southern Europe. This is great as you can still go swimming when the peak holiday season is over and Lake Garda is less crowded. The rooms are huge and beautifully decorated and feature eccentric wall papers that melt the interior designer’s heart.  The Hotel offers different categories of rooms from double rooms, family apartments and exclusive suites for up to 6 people.

Some suites have their own pool/spa.  We loved the breakfast as it had ample variety and choice for every taste. A chef was always present to cook fresh pancakes, omlettes and eggs to your liking.  Some great features are: the safe underground parking and the close proximity to the town centre. It is also very family-friendly. The pool is great for small children and they recently added a cinema and a playroom which also has features things for older children such as a pool table. The Hotel also recently underwent renovations and they added a gym and a spa area. We stayed at this hotel with a group of other people two years in a row and everyone loved. The kids ages ranged from three to 8 years old and they all had a great time.

Riva Del Garda

Grand Hotel Liberty

The Hotel’s beautiful architecture and interior reminds you of a royal castle. The entrance features a grand chandelier, beautiful interior decoration and marble floors. We stayed in the original part of the Hotel. The room stunned with it’s high ceilings and grandness. It was perfect for two adults and a five year old child. The bathroom was newly renovated and featured a large shower. The Hotel features a heated indoor pool,  an outdoor pool (not heated) and a spa facility that has ample treatments available to spoil yourself.  A special treat was the beautiful restaurant which is one of the top restaurants in this area. Whilst the food is more pricey than inside town centre the food is definitely worth it. Tip: if you arrive by car reserve a car park at the hotel at 10 Euro per day. Whilst there is some free parking -the parking spots are taken quickly. The Hotel offers other parking options however, the car park is approximately 100 m away if you don’t get one directly at the hotel.
